The very much awaited film of Sekhar Kammula’s Leader has released today. The debutant actor Daggubati Rana who is the grandson of Legend Producer Mr. D.Ramanaidu has acted this much awaited film. Rana is a tall actor with promising looks.

When we come to story part CM of the state Sanjeevayya (Suman) gets killed by Dhnunjay (Subbaraju) who is a relative of Sanjeevayya plans to take over the post of CM. The son of Sanjeevayya is Arjun Prasad (Rana) is well educated in USA and returned to India. He recognizes that his father was a crooked person and entire political system is contaminated with fraud. Arjun is practical in nature and wishes to change the rules of political system in the state. Arjun uses his brain to overcome Dhanunjay to become the CM. The remaining story is all about how Arjun fights against the corrupted political system and he succeeds.

When coming to artist’s performance Rana who is having a tremendous ability to do justice for the story like this and he has done a fabulous performance. Sekhar Kammula has taken a good decision by taking the new comer Rana in the title role and he done excellent work. The main asset of Rana is his voice and pronunciation. He can speak Telugu in a extremely reliable manner.

Richa Gangopadhyaya played the female lead of Rana and she performed well in the movie. Priya Anand also did another role and she did well in the movie.

After a long time, Kota got a meaty role and has done a fabulous work. Subba Raju has done a remarkable role in the movie. He is extremely well in the movie. After ‘Anukokunda Oka Roju’ Harshavardhan has done a well noted role as character yes man. His action in pretty good in the first scene. Rao Ramesh and Ahuti Prasad are adequate. Udaya Bhanu did an item song in the movie.

The story, screenplay and direction of the movie are fabulous. Cinematographer Vijay C Kumar has done a pretty good job. Music by Mikey J Meyer is very good and the recording done by him is highly appreciated thing in the entire movie.

The Best scenes of the movie are :

  1. In the hospital, when the CM battles with death all the remaining politicians will fight for CM Post.
  2. The scene in a song where hero gives cloth to a lady with torn jacket.
  3. Udayabhanu’s item song.
  4. A scene where Rana leaves a cloth for a woman through water.
  5. Ranas dialogues with Gollapudi Maruthi Rao are excellent.
  6. An old man speaks with Chief Minister regarding his daughter.
  7. The beautiful scene of explaining the ‘rice free’ scheme.

The unconvincing points in the movie are :

  1. The total characterization of Priya Anand’ looks waste. The film would have run better without her character.
  2. Hero trying to struggle another heroine in the name of love is not realistically narrated.
  3. All the MLA’s are shown as corrupted MLA’s. And the movie shows the entire political system is corrupted.

Sekhar Kammula has penned the dialogues very well and like rice free scheme, nijayatee gaa pani cheyyadamante tyagam cheyyatame, oka china hope ivvara, ammaiki nyayam cheyyaleni CM vunte entha voodithe entha etc. He chooses the subject of corrupted politicians. Like this many films came and without doubt Rana is different from all of them. There are many incidents in the film where the director touches the hearts of audiences and drag the tears from eyes.

The scenes where the hero Rana becomes the CM is well picturized and directed. In the second of the movie the Love scenes brings the tempo little bit down. In the climax the song “Maa Telugu Talliki” is narrated well. We have to appreciate the director Sekhar Kammula for choosing the film like corrupted politics. Totally the movie Rana is worth able to watch.
